Description

* The Geer Almshouse was designed by architects Lev Kekushev and Illarion Ivanov-Shits in 1894-1899. The poorhouse was intended as a shelter for the elderly. The building turned out to be incredibly large, it looked more like a palace than an almshouse. There was a beautiful church attached to the poorhouse. Its dome is still visible, but without the cross. When designing the facades, Kekushev used the techniques of Romano-Byzantine architecture. Now the building is empty, but not destroyed, the exterior of the building has been restored and you can admire its architecture.
