300-year-old Oak, St. Petersburg
Detailed description
The tree was planted more than 300 years ago by the first owner of the island, Peter Shafirov, Vice-Chancellor of Peter I. The oak is considered one of the most beautiful in the Northern capital. It grows in a mixed forest in a clearing near the shore of the Gulf of Finland. The 21-meter-high tree has received the status of a wildlife monument.
