Church in the name of the Holy Queen Alexandra
Detailed description
In 1904, a Church in the name of St. Tsarina Alexandra was built at the Orthodox cemetery in Nakhichevan-on-Don (now Rostov-on-Don) instead of a wooden chapel. Architect V. V. Popov created a Russian-style temple with an approximate size of 18x13 meters. In 1910, a bell tower with a hipped roof was added to it, and in the 1920s, a vestibule was added to the west side. During the German occupation of the city, the Alexandrian Church was used for the burial of dead Romanian Orthodox soldiers. In 1955, a side chapel in the name of St. Alexander Nevsky was built on the north side of the church, designed to commemorate the demolished Alexander Nevsky Church in Nakhichevan.
