Apartment house of K.M. Chernov
Detailed description
The house was built at the end of the 19th century and is another architectural monument. His owner was the horse breeder Karapet Chernov, who constantly competed with the Melkonov-Yezekov family. During the construction boom in the city, both families expanded their apartment buildings, which stood opposite each other at the intersection of B. Sadovaya and B. Prospekt (Voroshilovsky Prospekt). Both completed the fourth and fifth floors. At the same time, the dome on the Melkonov-Yezekovs' house was higher, and Chernov then ordered the construction of a colonnade "on his roof." Residents of Rostov-on-Don called the building of the house "with speakers on supports." Behind the house there was a financial and economic institute, which today has become the Rostov State Economic Academy.
