Metallistov Street
Detailed description
Metallistov Street is a pedestrian street in the Central District of Tula, the oldest in the city. The name of the street has changed several times: Pyatnitskaya, Nikolskaya, Metallistov. In 1742, the street was completely paved with cobblestones, the houses were built of white stone and red brick. The street was well-groomed and rich, with a living room courtyard, barbers, a drinking house and 40 shops. Since 2017, the street has been closed to traffic, and in 2018 the street was opened as a pedestrian street. In 2020, a Museum quarter with offices of federal museums was opened here.
