Actor's House

The Actor's House in Rostov-on-Don is a five-story building that was originally built for the staff of the Rostov theater. There is a legend that the architect of the house was in love with a local theater actress, and built a house in her honor that resembles the first letter of her name - Zinaida. Theater and cinema stars Vera Maretskaya and Rostislav Plyatt lived in the house. The building was subjected to fires, which caused the abandonment of the first floors. In the future, these rooms were occupied by street and other artists. Besides them, poets and hippies lived there. The fifth floor of the southern building was not completed at the time. Isolated basements were built under the northern, middle and southern three blocks of the building, located parallel to each other. The southern basement was intended for an air raid shelter.
