The building of the first city museum and public library
Detailed description
This building, designed by N.A. Doroshenko in 1893, is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance. The library was located on the ground floor of the building, and the Art Classes of the Artistic Society were located on the second floor. Later, the building was transferred to the Rostov-Nakhichevan Society of History and Antiquities, and then became the property of the city Museum and public library, referred to as the Gorky Central City Library. Although the building was nationalized after the Bolsheviks came to power, its functional purpose has not changed.
