Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after P. P. Belousov
Description
* The Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after P. P. Belousov is the largest park in Tula, a natural monument of regional importance. The park was founded in 1893 on the initiative of the sanitary doctor Pyotr Petrovich Belousov. The park has flower beds, alleys, a buffet, a summer Noble club, a cinema "Modern" and a playground. In the 1930s, the park had a fountain, two bandstands, a summer theater, a dance pavilion, a sports field, and other facilities. In the 1950s, many sculptures, a ski base and two summer cinemas were installed in the park. In the 1960s, the first electrified rides and the Druzhba cinema were installed in the park. In 1970, in honor of Lenin's 100th birthday, a grove of one hundred larches was laid, and in 1976 a zoo corner appeared. Currently, the park's territory occupies 143 hectares, which is divided into two parts — regular ("Old Park", in which the plantings of the XIX century have been preserved) and landscape ("Young Park", planted in 1951).
