Description

* The Church of St. Demetrius on the Blood is an Orthodox church built on the Volga River embankment in the Uglich Kremlin. It marks the place where Tsarevich Dimitry of Uglich was killed. Since 2001, it has been a candidate for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Currently, the Uglich Historical, Architectural and Art Museum is located in the church. The church has preserved murals from the second half of the 18th century depicting the death of Tsarevich Dmitry and the massacre of his murderers. It is believed that they were written in 1772 by the team of the Moscow contractor Sapozhnikov.
