* Castelvecchio, which means "Old Castle" in English, is the most impressive medieval building in Verona. This castle, built by Cangrande II of the Della Scala family (1354-1357), was conceived as a house and a complex of fortifications. Today the castle houses the Castelvecchio Museum.
