Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after P. P. Belousov
Description
* The Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after P. P. Belousov is a natural monument of regional importance and an object of national heritage. Initially, a municipal landfill was located on the site of the park. Over time, the city expanded, and the presence of nearby waste could affect the sanitary condition of the city. In March 1892, at a meeting of the Tula City Duma, a commission was formed to establish parks and squares in the city. The grand opening of the park, named Petrovsky, took place on June 20, 1893, and its first director was a member of the Tula City Duma, merchant N. I. Livensev. There were flower beds in the park, benches on the alleys, and a buffet. In 1960, a monument to Belousov was erected in the center of the park. In 1995, in honor of the centenary of the poet Sergei Yesenin, a monument to him was erected in the park.
