Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh
Description
* In 2003, Lieutenant General S.A. Kucheruk proposed the creation of a new church dedicated to Michael the Archangel. However, in 2006 it was renamed in honor of Sergius of Radonezh. On July 18 of the same year, a cross and a memorial stone were erected at the site of the future construction in the park on the saint's memorial day. The temple project was developed in the architectural workshop "Development Project" and approved in 2009. A few days after that, on July 20, the laying of the foundation stone was completed. Only voluntary donations were used for the construction. The temple has a high single-domed quadrangle with a three-part apse and facades divided into three strands with semicircular transom ends. It is decorated with a gold-colored helmet-shaped head located on a high light drum. After the construction, the building was painted white. Inside is the icon of the Mother of God of Port Arthur, located in the lower aisle. The church was consecrated in 2015, on the same day as the installation of the cross and memorial stone.
