* The Novotorzhsky Kremlin is an untouched fortress in Torzhok, which was first mentioned in 1139 and was destroyed by fire in 1742. Its walls reached four meters in height and one thousand four hundred meters in length, with eleven towers, including Spasskaya Gate, Glukhaya, Petrovskaya, Vodyanaya, Uglovaya, Borisoglebskaya and Taynitskaya. The walled territory occupied about seven hectares, it housed powder depots, a gubernatorial hut, hunting and pushkar houses, barns, princely and other private houses, as well as a wooden church, on the site of which a stone church was built in 1364, and others. There were no wells on the territory of the Kremlin. The fortress includes two settlements known by different names - Novy Torg and Torzhok. Both fortresses are still in use today.
