* Krutitsky farmstead is an ancient corner of Moscow. The first buildings appeared here in 1272 - the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and a monastery attached to it, known as the Krutitsky compound of the Sarai and Podon diocese. The Krutitsky compound fulfilled the mission of the ecclesiastical diplomatic department. It was the seat of the highest clergy in the Moscow Kremlin. The ancient red-brick metropolitan chambers (the Palace of the Krutitsky Metropolitans), the Holy Gates with a tiled gatehouse, the cobblestone pavement, and some wooden buildings from the 19th century have been preserved. In 1991, the buildings of the metochion were gradually returned to the Russian Orthodox Church.
