Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 2 hours
* This author's route will introduce you to the sacred side of Buryat life and unusual places of the city during the day. Ulan-Ude is famous for its wooden houses of the 19th century, where the spirit of tsarist Russia has been preserved.
Our city is a fusion of the most powerful cultures and nationalities, each of which is interesting in its own way. The reflection of centuries-old cultures in the appearance of our city leaves no one indifferent.
We will understand the peculiarities of Siberian architecture, admire the confluence of the Uda and Selenga, the largest tributary of Lake Baikal. Let's find out why Ulan-Ude became the capital of Russian Buddhism and how Christian, Buddhist and pagan traditions coexist. And of course, we'll discuss which other corners of the city are worth exploring and what to try first in local restaurants.
The walk begins on the square of Soviets, where the largest head of Ilyich is located, which got into the Guinness Book of Records.
After a photo shoot and a story about the Soviet era and the buildings of that era, we will move on to the theater square. And here we will take a look at the magnificent and brilliant Opera and Ballet Theater.
Next, we will find a pedestrian street, which is popularly called Arbat. Chekhov and the merchant Yevsey Lukich himself will meet us here. There is a lot to see on Lenin pedestrian street or Arbat. Artists, artists, stone houses of the 19th and 29th centuries and much more.
Then we'll march and find the same stella, with an inscription on it in 4 languages. There is a message to our contemporaries, including in the lost Mongolian script.
And then our goal is St. Odigitrievsky Cathedral, built 282 years ago. Here we will learn its history and secrets. Hiding away from popular routes, many avoid it, although it is the oldest building in the city.
We will definitely get lucky with the sunny weather and we will take a lot of great photos against the background of old wooden houses.
Next, we will walk along the Uda embankment, where we will learn the history of the city from its very foundation.
Finally, we will be impressed by the panoramic view of the Uda River and the city.
