You will learn about the spread of Christianity on the island, explore its most important shrines and appreciate the skills of ancient craftsmen. Orthodox Corfu We will visit the wonderful churches in the city of Kerkyra and in the south of the island. The tour program includes: • St. Spyridon's Church is an ancient Orthodox church in the center of Kerkyra. You will venerate the incorruptible relics of the island's patron saint and receive a blessing from the local priest. • St. John the Baptist Church — built in the 15th century during the Venetian rule, you will remember it for the good priest Father Athanasius, the miraculous icon of St. Fanurius, and many fragments of saints' relics. • St. Theodora Cathedral — I will share the life story of the righteous Byzantine Queen Theodora and show you where her relics rest. • The Monastery of Kasopitra is a place where people come to ask for help from the miraculous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary in healing eye diseases. You will find out why this happened and what legend is connected with it. • St. Efimiya Monastery — you will see the iconostasis, which is considered the oldest on the whole island, and admire the idyllic surrounding views. • St. Paraskeva Monastery is a women's monastery in the south of the island. I will reveal the story of the heavenly intercessor and introduce you to the caring Abbess Nymphadora, who is happy to talk with every parishioner.
