* Lubeck is a very unusual city. A city that was founded three times. Its entire center is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, more than 1,000 houses are architectural monuments. The silhouette of Lubeck is decorated with seven church spires.
In the Middle Ages, it was one of the richest cities in Europe. Lubeck is the birthplace of three Nobel Prize winners. And Lubeck marzipan is known far beyond the borders of Germany.
A walking tour of the old town, which is located on the island, we will begin, of course, at the symbol of the city — the Holstein Gate.
We will walk past the former salt warehouses to the Town Hall Square, where the most important events of the city took place in the Middle Ages, and get acquainted with one of the oldest and most beautiful Town Hall buildings in Germany.
We will visit the marzipan museum. In the museum's store, you can buy and taste this famous Lubeck sweet.
St. Mary's Cathedral, built from 5 million baked bricks, holds many serious and curious stories. It was he who became the prototype of many brick Gothic churches in northern Germany.
We will see the houses of all three Nobel laureates, visit the Hospital of the Holy Spirit, opened in the 13th century, and be sure to stroll through the passageways of Lubeck, narrow streets that are also a UNESCO cultural heritage site. These streets are the main difference between Lubeck and other ancient German cities. Legends, stories and stories about local traditions will accompany you throughout your walk around the city.
After the tour, you can have lunch at the restaurant of the 1535 Seafarers' society, taste North German cuisine, drink a glass of beer or local red wine - Lubeck rotspont.
