* Montalcino takes its name from the evergreen oaks growing on the hill (monte+leccino). The Etruscans first settled on the mountain in the 7th-6th century BC, but the town received its greatest development in the Middle Ages, thanks to the Benedictine monks of St. Anthimus Abbey. We still see fortifications on the slopes where olive groves and vineyards grow. Montalcino is the Brunello wine region. It's hard to imagine that the 1970s town was the poorest town in Tuscany. A special terroir: heavy clay, sometimes rocky and marl soils combined with a dry climate, almost the Tuscan coast, allow the production of long-lived Sangiovese wines. The Ricasoli and Clemente Santi families have established standards for the production of Brunello Montalcino wine, reducing the aging time to 2 years (previously it was 4) in Slovenian oak barrels, then in bottles, can be sold no earlier than 5 years after harvest, the year of which is indicated on the label. In the end, it turns out a wine for special occasions with a light aroma of roses, tobacco and spices. We will have an unforgettable experience when we taste the wine in the winery.
