Trieste City Tour
From 100€ per person
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 5 hours
* Trieste is sometimes called the "little Vienna by the sea". Indeed, the fate of this city on the northern Adriatic is closely linked to the great Habsburg Empire, to which Trieste belonged from 1382 to 1918. The history of Trieste dates back to the ancient Roman era, as evidenced by the striking ruins in the "old town".
Our walk will give you a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the extraordinary history of Trieste through its beautiful monuments, buildings, squares and, of course, sea embankments. From the hill of San Giusto, the heart of the old town, we will descend to the Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia, an incredibly beautiful square with one side facing the sea and looking like a huge luxurious terrace. Then we will visit the Theresian quarter, built by the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa in the 18th century for merchants who came here from all over the Mediterranean, where you can still feel the international atmosphere that characterized life in the quarter at that time.
And at the end, let's have a cup of coffee in one of the famous cafes of Trieste — after all, Trieste is one of the most "coffee" cities in Europe.
