From 400€ per private group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 10 hours
* On this tour you will get acquainted with His Majesty the castle - fortress of Anjera and an unusual monastery.
Anjera is a quiet, cozy town. At one time, it was appreciated by the Italian aristocracy, due to its enviable position in the south of a beautiful lake, surrounded by fertile meadows and green hills. And above all this peaceful beauty, a majestic castle-fortress stands on a high mountain above the lake, guarding the calm waters of the Maggiore and the surrounding countryside surrounded by greenery.
Rocca di Angera Castle.
The castle, also known as the ancient Lombardy fortress, looks like the perfect setting for a historical film. You will be greeted by powerful fortress walls with battlements. Inside, you will see a well-kept courtyard, magnificent halls and a beautiful old park beckoning under the shade of huge trees.
Climbing to the top of the ancient north tower, you will admire the rare beauty of the panorama of Lake Maggiore, walk along the lookout path on the fortress wall of the citadel, and explore the ancient halls. The south side is crowned by the equally spectacular Giovanni Visconti Tower. Between the towers is the so-called Visconti Wing, inside which the ancient halls are hidden. The Hall of Justice is this very hall, or rather its walls decorated with frescoes, preserve the history of the fortress.
Museum of Dolls and Children's Toys. There are collections of more than a thousand antique European dolls that have been created over the centuries, starting from the XVIII century. The material of manufacture is very diverse: wood, fabric, wax, papier-mache, ceramics, porcelain.
After a long tour of the castle, against the backdrop of the Italian heat, you will get incomparable pleasure walking in the shady greenery of the medieval garden.
After visiting the fortress, we will go to the centuries-old monastery of Santa Caterina del Sasso, built on a high cliff of the picturesque Lake Maggiore.
You can get to the monastery by climbing 80 stone steps on the cliff face from the lake. Or by going down the spiral staircase or by taking the elevator from above.
