Excursion to the Vazheozersky monastery
From 8 000₽ per private group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 5 hours
* The monastery on the shore of Deer Lake was founded by the disciples of St. Alexander Svirsky in the 16th century. It is a quiet place in the remote Karelian taiga.
The monks' life flowed slowly until the arrival of the Poles and Lithuanians, who ravaged the monastery in 1613. The monastery suffered a second ruin during the years of Soviet rule.
But everything goes back to normal. About thirty monks are currently serving in the monastery. Divine services are held in the churches of the Transfiguration and All Saints.
Nikita Besogon's chapel stands on the shore of the lake, and you can pour water from it all year round. The swimming pool on the shore of the lake is more often in demand in summer.
At the beginning of the 20th century, a monk named Vladimir lived in the monastery, who was blessed by John of Kronstadt himself. At the grave of a monk, believers pray for the birth of children.
