* Two ancient Moscow streets, turning into one another, have recently become one of the favorite places of recreation and walks for Moscow youth. That does not at all diminish their historical and architectural value. We'll find out where the streets got their names, and we'll talk about the Little Russian farmstead and the house "where the tsars took their second wives from" (but this is inaccurate :). We will learn about the sad fate of Varvara Petrovna Razumovskaya, see the buildings of Matvey Kazakov, visit the Lutheran Cathedral and the Mazepa chambers. Let's talk about the wonderful Church of the Assumption on Pokrovka, demolished in Soviet times, and about the film "Pokrovsky Gate". We will see the museumized foundation of the fortress "White City" on the Boulevard Ring, as well as the "house-chest of drawers". We will visit Barashy and the pentagonal Lyalin Square. Let's look at the unique "egg house" and find out why the bell tower at the end of Pokrovka Street was left without a church.
