The Vipava Valley is a paradise for lovers of traditional cuisine and indigenous wines. The Vipava Valley is on the list of Top 10 destinations in Europe, and its name is also mentioned in the world by strong individuals, such as Ivo Boscarol, who created the production of Pipistrel aircraft. Goriška Brda is one of the most beautiful Slovenian regions, a land of hills that stretches between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea along the Italian border. The hills are known for their traditional cuisine and top indigenous wines. The hilly area covered with vineyards, olive groves, orchards, winding country roads, idyllic villages is reminiscent of Tuscany. A walk through the narrow streets between the diverse villages, a visit to the wine cellar and the local inn is a great opportunity to learn more about the heritage of these places and indulge in the comfort and hospitality of the locals. The most famous is the village of Šmartno, which is itself a cultural monument, once a medieval fortress, today a nice and appealing tourist attraction. On the way, we will climb the 23-meter-high lookout tower in Gonjače, from where there is a beautiful view that reaches the Gulf of Trieste in fine weather. The last stops are the Solkan railway bridge over the Soča river and the pilgrimage church on Sveta gora. Solkan Bridge is a landmark of global importance, as it has the largest stone arch in the world. This one is 85 meters long and is a real work of art, built in 1905. During the First World War, in 1916, it was mined by the Italian army. After the occupation in 1920, the Italians restored it and changed it slightly. Pilgrimage Sveta gora at an altitude of 681 meters above sea level with the church dedicated to Mary is a protected monument of technical culture and a popular excursion point, from where it can be seen far to all sides of the sky
