It is the most important attraction of the Kaliningrad region, since 2000 it has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, so the spit attracts tourists from all over the world at any time of the year. The entire spit is about 98 km long, and we will drive through the Russian part of the spit, which occupies about half of its length. We will start our program with a stop at the Curonian Lagoon, so that you can have an idea of what this huge body of water looks like, along which our path runs. Then there is the opportunity to visit the Fringilla ornithological station, a bird banding station, where you will learn some interesting facts about the life of birds and observe the banding process. The migratory path of birds passes over the spit, where about 300 species of birds migrate every year from Scandinavia, Karelia and the Baltic States to Africa and southern Europe and back. There are also specimens listed in the Red Book. The next item of the program will be the dancing forest - you will walk through the most mysterious forest of the Kaliningrad region and learn the secret of the bizarre curved trees, which are associated with local legends and superstitions. Then a walk to the EFA dune - to the top of one of the highest dunes in Europe, from the observation decks of which you will have an incredible view of the entire panorama of the spit - the Baltic Sea, the Curonian Lagoon and the village of Morskoye. The route will surprise you with the variety of natural landscapes of the spit and introduce you to the history of the sand disaster of the XVIII - XIX centuries, which broke out due to deforestation, and why it was important to restore green spaces on the spit.
