Guided tour along the front line of the Siege of Leningrad

Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 3 hours
* In the 1960s, a memorial Walk of Fame was built in the southwest of Leningrad along the line of the advanced trenches of the Soviet troops. For two and a half years, the cannonade of heavy guns did not subside around her, and the once beautiful manor gardens and parks turned into a scorched moonscape with huge craters and dense rows of wire fences. Here, Soviet troops repeatedly launched offensives, ending with advancing several hundred meters forward with heavy losses, after which the Germans counterattacked them back to their starting positions. This protracted and bloody battle, which became a repeat of the positional stalemate of the First World War, rarely received attention in the descriptions of the Battle for Leningrad. Nevertheless, here, as in other, more famous sectors of the front, there were their heroes and their villains, their exploits and their defeats, and here, too, at the cost of much blood and hardship, the victory of January 1944 was forged.
During our walk, we will try to restore the picture of the fighting in the southwest of Leningrad, walking along the entire Alley from Ligovo station to the memorial at the Baltic Pearl. We'll talk about the operations that took place in this area, walk through the remains of the trenches, talk about the underground "war of the moles" and look at photos of the area during the war.
What we will see and hear:
- pre-war history of the area. The village of Klinovo, manors and the "Island of Love"
- Uritsko-Staro-Panovskaya operation - "the first swallow that did not make spring"
- photos from the Soviet and German sides of the trenches
- Sniper war and soldiers' memories
