The building of the St. Petersburg State Art and Industrial Academy named after Baron A. L. Stieglitz has a majestic glass dome. The Academy was founded in 1876 with the funds and patronage of Baron Stieglitz. The museum has 14 halls and 35 thousand pieces of art from Antiquity to the present. The main building of the School was built in 1878-1881 by architects A. I. Krakau and R. A. Gedike, and the museum at the School was created for the successful training of students. Baron Stieglitz bequeathed to the school a huge sum of money, about 1 million rubles, to replenish the museum's collection. After the revolution, the school was closed, and the exhibits were partially stolen, but in 1945 the school was reopened. Today, the museum at the Academy is open to the public.
