Plunging into the past, we will embark on a journey through the Kaliningrad region to uncover the secrets of Tilsit, a city with a rich and multi-layered history. The heart of this journey will be the Queen Louise Bridge, a majestic structure spanning the Neman River, which once served as the border between the Russian Empire and East Prussia. 🔹 Talpaki ( formerly Taplaken) We will have a technical stop here. There will also be an opportunity for a snack in the replaced Cheburechnaya (they say the most delicious chebureks in the region are here) 🔹 High ( former Popelken / Makthausen) On January 21, 1945, the village was captured by soldiers of the 89th Tank Brigade under the command of Colonel A. Sommer. In 1946, Makthausen was renamed the village of Vysokoe. Here we will take a look : Popelken Church in ruins (1780). An object of cultural heritage of local (municipal) significance. The Neman ( Ragnit) is a place where the Teutonic walls could not withstand the impact of time . Next, we will go to Neman, a city whose history is woven from the interweaving of Lithuanian legends and Prussian legends, which for a long time bore the proud name of Ragnit.
