Meteora is the second most important Orthodox city in Greece (after Mount Athos). It seems incredible that an entire monastic state is located on huge blocks of stone 500-600 m high.

Kastoria – Lake Orestiada

Kastoria is one of the most picturesque and beautiful parts of Greece. The name of the city in Greek means "habitat of beavers", which have lived here for many centuries. Located on the shores of the charming Lake Orestiada, Kastoria is a pole of attraction, primarily for nature lovers and natural beauty.
Lake Orestiada is located at an altitude of 630 m above sea level and is surrounded by the Northern Pinda mountain range. The area of this true gift of nature is 28 square kilometers, and the depth is about 9 m. More than 200 species of rare and endangered birds have found their home on Lake Orestiada. There they live, winter and are protected by the international organization Natura 2000.
We will take a walking tour along the lake shore and visit the famous monastery of Our Lady of Mavriotissa (11th century). The monastery is one of the most significant religious monuments in the city. In general, the cultural and historical heritage of Kastoria is very significant. There are 75 Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches in the city with frescoes and icons that have no analogues in the history of Orthodox icon painting.
Kastoria is also the most significant center of fur production in Europe. We will have the opportunity to visit one of the most renowned factories in Kastoria and get acquainted with the production process of fur products.
After the tour ends, transfer to Kalambaka village.

Meteors – Tembeiskoe Gorge

After breakfast, explore the monastic state of Meteor.
Meteors are an amazing creation of nature and human hands. On giant stone blocks 500-600 m high. The whole monastic state is comfortably located. Meteora is the second most important (after Mount Athos) Orthodox center of Greece.
Of the 24 monasteries that were once built on the rocks, only six have survived: 4 male and 2 female. Meteor Monasteries have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1988. Meteors are also included in the European ecological network NATURA to preserve their biological and landscape diversity.
We will get acquainted with two "floating" monasteries, with their architecture, with examples of the Cretan and Macedonian schools of icon painting. We will see collections of unique manuscripts on parchment, rich church utensils and numerous miraculous icons.
After lunch, our trip will continue with a visit to the Tembi Gorge.
The Tembi Gorge separates the Ossa mountain range from the Olympic Mountains. In the center of the gorge flows the legendary Pinos River, which, according to ancient Greek myth, was formed after Hercules broke through the mountain passage between the rocks.
Tembi gorge is covered with dense vegetation (laurel, oak, sycamore) and has a length of 8 km. In addition to its connection with the history and mythology of ancient Greece, the Tembe Gorge attracts many travelers due to the location of the famous cave temple of St. Paraskeva, considered by Orthodox pilgrims to be a healer of the visually impaired.

Впрочем, тут вопрос не только в багаже знаний выбранного вами экскурсовода. В квалифицированном гиде должны привлекать не только профессиональные знания, тут важно всё: от умения грамотно подать информацию до дикции и тембра голоса.
