FORMA VIVA KOSTANJEVICA More then 100 sculptures are on display in natural environment nearby art museum/former cistercian monastery in Kostanjevica na Krki. They were created on sculptural symposiums Forma Viva with participation of artists from different parts of the world between 1961-1988 and biannual from 1988. Sculptures moulding by artists are made from oak wood, typical for this part of Slovenia MATJAŽ'S HOMESTEAD The next stop at Paha, where you’ll visit homestead of Matjaž– 150 year old farmhouse, tipical for Slovenian cottagers in 18th and 19th century. A warm wellcome of the owners, who will present you a story of cviček with 20-minute multivision presentation, »The Cviček Story« and lead you through the tasting of four types of wine with home-baked bread and cheese. From Paha you’ll descend to the castle Otočec THE LAND OF HAYRACKS is the first open-air museum of hayracks. It consists of 19 different drying structures originating from the Mirna Valley, except for one hayrack which comes from the vicinity of Ivančna Gorica. The museum’s purpose is to show the development of hayracks through time, space and social meaning from simple drying structures to complex forms of double hayracks – “toplars”. The museum covers an area of 2.5 ha and comprises 1 km of paths suitable for walks. The oldest hayrack in the museum is called »Luka’s toplar« dating back to 1795, which is also one of the world’s oldest preserved double hayracks OTOČEC CASTLE The only castle on the water in Slovenia is Otočec Castle near Novo mesto. The castle is located on the island of the river Krka, surrounded by a castle park where trees have been growing for over a hundred years. Today's image of castle architecture has been formed over many centuries. Its design dates back to the middle of the 13th century, a time stylistically marked by the transition from Romanesque to Gothic. The castle was burnt down by partisans during the Second World War
