* The history of the city began in May 1703 with the appearance of a fortress named after St. Peter on the banks of the Neva River. Initially, Peter the Great thought only about access to European seas, shipyards and the navy, but by 1712, the tsar decided to move the capital, and with it all the functions of the state.
All the forces and capabilities of the country were invested in the construction of the new city. Despite the difficulties, the capricious Baltic climate, and the harsh living conditions in which the serfs worked and lived, the city was brought to life before our eyes, surprising every overseas guest with the pace of construction.
In parallel with the construction of the fortress walls, the territory of the city island, now Petrogradsky, began to be built up. It is here that the first houses of the townspeople appear and the city square is formed - Troitskaya, which got its name from the Holy Trinity Cathedral built here, which was lost in the 30s of the twentieth century.
Our route will pass through the streets of the Petrogradskaya side, which have preserved in their names the distant voice of the past. We will also talk about the revival of this area two hundred years later, when, after the opening of the permanent Troitsky Bridge across the Neva River, this area became one of the most sought-after by the townspeople. One of the most interesting fashionable districts of St. Petersburg was built here in a short time.
We will see the Great Cathedral Mosque, the House of Political Prisoners, the House of Peter the Great, the cruiser Aurora and the Nakhimov Naval School, climb to one of the roofs of St. Petersburg, from where, like Peter, we will explore his paradise. At the end, we will get acquainted with the bright mosaic of styles of Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt.
