* In 1711, a Foundry yard was built on the banks of the Neva River, around which a settlement of artisans engaged in the production of cannons was formed. Domenico Trezzini developed a plan for the Neva River, which became known as the Moscow, or Russian side. The road that brought people from Moscow and Novgorod came here. The Moscow part of the city runs from Nevsky Prospect on the left side of the Fontanka River down to the seaside and is separated to the southeast by the Ligovsky Canal, and further south by the vygonny moat. Tsarevich Alexei Petrovich chose the Moscow side . He had to leave his beloved Moscow and move to the hated St. Petersburg, on the current Shpalernaya Street.
