* Lake Siltran-Kel means "beautiful lake" in Turkic, and you will see that the ancient inhabitants of these parts knew a lot about choosing names. A wide expanse of green water with snow—white clouds reflected in it, surrounded by a rocky basin - such beauty is never forgotten.
Like most of the Karov lakes, Syltrankel was formed as a result of the movement of glaciers. It has an elongated shape from northwest to southeast. The height at which the reservoir is located is 3186 m above sea level. Even in summer, it is refreshingly cool here, and bluish ice floes left over from winter can float on the surface. The water in the lake has a milky bluish-green color, and the shade varies depending on the weather. Swimming is not recommended here: even in the heat, the water warms up only to 8 degrees. However, there are sometimes brave souls, and according to their stories, it's worth taking a dip — and you instantly feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
A lot of rock dust gets into the water from the scree basin, so the lake resembles a huge water tank left by the artist after painting with green gouache. Get ready to take a lot of photos and enjoy your vacation in one of the most beautiful places in the Elbrus region.
This route is very beautiful and technically uncomplicated, and many participants from the Elbrus climbing groups take it as part of the altitude acclimatization program. But the experience of backpacking is still desirable.
Difficulty level: medium. There is a slight rise at the beginning of the route, but then the trail turns into a forest road, which meanders gradually up through a beautiful coniferous forest. The pace of the hike is low and with periodic rest. The whole route will run through the forest, the grass of alpine meadows and the kurumnik. The trail can be wet, so good trekking shoes and gaiters (flashlights) are desirable to protect the lower part of the feet from water and dirt. Therefore, we will divide it into 2 days and spend the night on the border of the forest and the Alps, which will allow us not to overload on the first day and have dinner by the campfire.

• In the 2-day hike, after a walk along the lake, we will go down to the tents, have lunch, set up camp and once again admire the incredible surrounding panoramas and begin the descent to the road along the same path that we took here.
• In the 3-day hike, we will set up tents and spend the night on the shore of the lake. The next morning we will climb the lane.Syltran-Vostochny 3478m.(if you didn't do it on the second day). After lunch, we descend from the route to the waiting cars.
Attention! At an altitude of 3180 m. in the evening, at night and in the morning, even in the middle of summer, the temperature drops below zero, so you need to take a sleeping bag with a comfort temperature of no more than 0 degrees and warm clothes.
