Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 1.5 hours
* "The king of jewelers and the jeweler of kings" was the definition given by contemporaries to the outstanding master Carl Gustavovich Faberge, who was able to turn his father's small workshop into a real empire. The world's largest collection of products created by his company can be seen in the wonderful private Faberge Museum in the Shuvalov Palace on the banks of the Fontanka River.
During the tour, you will learn the history of the famous company, what products it produced, and what was their special feature. You will see the main masterpieces thanks to which Faberge gained worldwide fame - a series of Easter egg gifts. In addition, the museum presents "cabinet gifts", objects decorated with enamel-guilloche techniques, fashionable trinkets, accessories, "fantasy objects" (objets de fantaisie) and a collection of stone–cutting works - all the products that the jewelry company produced for the most part.
In addition to Faberge products, the museum features one of the largest collections of Russian enamels made by jewelers from companies that collaborated with Faberge. Russian Russian silver icons, silver tableware from Russian and foreign companies, 18th and 19th century snuffboxes, a collection of porcelain and paintings are also displayed in the halls.
