* Going East: Gvardeysk/Tapiau. On the way to Chernyakhovsk, we will not miss another interesting town — Gvardeysk. Here you will be greeted by the old market square, cobbled streets, the building of the former Lutheran church and the Teutonic citadel of Tapiau of the 13th century, which remembers the last grand master of the order. Georgenburg Castle and 19th century stables. Next, we will go to the stud farm, where you will admire the prancing horses, inspect the ancient stables and the arena. And then we will visit the ruins of Georgenburg Castle: I will tell you about the difficult fate of the fortress, which remembers the Lithuanian invasions, the Prussian uprisings and the visit of Russian troops under the command of Prince Barclay de Tolly. Chernyakhovsk/Insterburg: the spirit of true East Prussia We will walk along the cozy streets, looking into the courtyards and examining the buildings of the 19th century: we will find out what was located in them before and what is now. I will also tell you about the history of the former Easterburg and help you notice its architectural details.
