Description

Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 2 hours
* A journey through the territory of a unique museum-reserve, where ordinary people still live next to the oldest monuments Kolomna originated at the dawn of the history of northeastern Russia about 900 years ago. The fortress-fenced settlement at the mouth of the Moscow River was very favorably located, so Ryazan, Vladimir and Moscow argued for Kolomna. But everything was changed by the invasion of the Golden Horde. Kolomna went to the Moscow princes and became the second capital of Muscovy for several centuries. The Kolomna Kremlin is literally saturated with a huge number of ancient monuments that take your breath away. Fortress walls, monasteries, the oldest temples of the Moscow region, merchant estates and ordinary residential wooden houses are very well preserved. Thanks to this, we can see with our own eyes the living history and learn how our ancestors lived many centuries ago… What awaits you? - Let's start from the place where the entrance to the city through the Ivanovo Gate was located. Let's talk about the location of Kolomna at the intersection of land and water roads. Thanks to this, Kolomna was constantly in the thick of the main political and economic events. The city has survived many nomad raids and has been revived several times after the devastation. - Let's admire the brick walls of the impregnable Kolomna fortress and analyze all its details. We will find out who supervised the construction, how much it cost by those standards, what materials were used, and why the Kremlin, like two drops of water, looks like Moscow. - Let's walk along the central street of the Kremlin, where the city council was located. And now there are many interesting museums, cafes and restaurants here. - We will see the unique Assumption Church of Ivan the Terrible in the tent style. There are very few of them left today. Its dome looks like an octagonal pyramid. Let's talk about the terrible tsar and his affairs in Kolomna. - At the foot of the legendary Marinka Tower, we will touch mysticism. You will learn the terrible story of the Moscow tsarina Marina Mnishek, who was very disliked in Russia for her involvement in black magic. In this tower she spent her last days.
