In the late 19th - early 20th century, many hospitals, almshouses and orphanages were built in Moscow. The money for most of the social institutions was given by benefactors, which included the Boev brothers. The project of the almshouse was made by architect Alexander Ober in the eclectic style. The main building of the almshouse is a two–story building, elongated in length with a dome. To the right and left of it were houses of free apartments for poor citizens.
