* We present to your attention a unique tour of mountainous Dagestan, combining comfortable living conditions, rather difficult trekking routes and incredibly beautiful views from the high Caucasus mountains. Almost all of our trekking trips lead to heights favored by eagles for their flights. By the way, you can watch and chat with them in the zoo corner on the Sary-Kum dune, see them in nesting sites on mountain peaks and in free flight. The uniqueness of the route lies in the fact that even well-known historical and natural attractions will open up to you from a completely different perspective. For example, you will not go up to the famous abandoned ghost village of Gamsutl, but go down from above.
Dagestan is a unique place for paragliding. If the weather permits during the tour, you will be able to fly a tandem paraglider with an experienced instructor from one of the peaks in the Kafir-Kumukh area. This is the easiest and safest way to take to the sky and experience special pleasure. In flight, only the pure energy of nature is used — the energy of the sun and wind. On the one hand, it is an opportunity to look at familiar landscapes from an eagle's eye view. On the other hand, it's probably one of the easiest ways to overcome your fear of heights. Unfortunately, it is also one of the rarest species of birds of prey listed in the Red Book. Proud predators are on the verge of extinction due to human activity. The route begins in the village of Sogratl, where the Vatan complex is located, dedicated to the victorious battle of the highlanders with the Army of the Iranian ruler Nadir Shah, who invaded the territory of Mountainous Dagestan, but was fiercely rebuffed by the combined forces of local peoples. The battle ended on the Khitsibsky field with the victory of the highlanders. The complex includes a stylized eleven-meter combat tower and a mosque. There is also a museum dedicated to the battle.

On this day, we will go on a trekking trip to Mount Mayak and the Tsarsky Tunnel.
In the autumn of 1871, Emperor Alexander II arrived in Dagestan for the first time as the head of the Russian state. After visiting Port Petrovsk and Temirkhan-Shura, the emperor arrived in Gunib. Preparations for the emperor's arrival were thorough. Roads were laid in the mountains, bridges were thrown across rivers, and a tunnel was cut through the rock near Gunib.
The tunnel is pierced under one of the peaks of the Gunib plateau, called Kaligeg, and allows the shortest route through Mount Gunib from the Kara-Koisu valley to the Avar Koisu valley and further to Hunzakh.
It was built primarily for security reasons — as an emergency exit from Gunib. In addition, there was a superstition: it was not appropriate for royal persons to walk along the same road twice.
Before entering the tunnel, the royal procession transferred from carriages to riding horses and continued down the steep descent to the Karadakh gorge.

Kahib and Goor are the oldest villages of Dagestan. They are famous for their battle towers, built in the VIII — X centuries A.D. The towers are 10 — 15 meters high, strictly rectangular, four-storied, with an internal entrance. The towers have special windows, from which, in case of an enemy attack, shooting was conducted. On the way back, we will visit the Khatan-Bugeb-kcal gorge (Avar means "Sunday Gorge"). The ancient Datun Church, an ancient Christian temple built by Georgian missionaries, is located here. It is a small quadrangular, domeless building (modeled on Georgian non-domed temples), built of neat blocks of golden-beige sandstone — approximately at the end of the X — beginning of the XI century. The church was abandoned back in the 13th century. In one part of the building there are double walls in which cells are located. They say monks used to sit in them. So they moved away from the hustle and bustle of the world, and the gift of foresight was revealed to them.
