Description

Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 2 hours
* Interactive lesson for children 9+ There are not so many estates in Russia that have been preserved completely in their original form, where there are both front and utility parts, and a park with all the corresponding buildings. Polenovo Manor is one of them. It was not ruined during the revolution, almost did not suffer during the Second World War. The safety was ensured and is ensured thanks to the "supervision" of family members and descendants of the artist, who have always lived on the estate. Using the example of the Polenovo estate, it is very good to introduce children to the phenomenon of "Russian manor" itself. During the lesson, the children will learn: Who are the nobles? How did the estates appear?  The history of the development of estates in Russia.  What is a manor house? How was life at the manor? How does a manor differ from a country house, from a city estate and a mansion? About manor parks (views, park architecture). At the end of the lesson, the children, based on the knowledge they have gained, will design their "ideal" estate.
