Church of Santa Maria Presso San Satiro

From the outside, this church on a shopping street near the Piazza del Duomo seems relatively small and nondescript. But inside the building is grandiose, its majestic, deep, vaulted sanctuary extends to the apse, the length of which is almost equal to the main part of the church. This is all an optical illusion, a very clever trick by architect Bramante, which was used to give the splendor of a church with limited space.
