Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 2 hours
* Why is Florence's main museum worth a visit? After the tour, you will receive a comprehensive answer to this question. In the ancient palace on the banks of the Arno, explore the works of Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Cimabue, Rubens, Michelangelo and other authors. You will understand their role in the history of art development and learn the main things about the subjects of painting and sculpture of the XIII — XVII centuries.
What awaits you:
• Understand the Uffizi heritage.
From the very first minutes in the main museum of Florence, you will immerse yourself in the history of the development of painting, sculpture and fashion using the example of the gallery's exhibits. I will help you understand their importance not only for Italian, but for world art. The tour will follow the principle of the exposition, "chronology and schools." First, you will learn about the peculiarities of religious painting of the 13th century, logically move on to secular Renaissance subjects and finally study the canvases of the 17th century. You will understand styles from Gothic to Baroque, learn how to distinguish Greek statues from Roman ones and "read" the subjects of paintings. And let's talk about how the signors of Tuscany from the Medici dynasty collected a rich collection of Uffizi.
• Answers to all the "whys" about masterpieces.
Madonnas by Giotto, Cimabue and Filippo Lippi; The Holy Family by Michelangelo; Spring and the Birth of Venus by Botticelli; sculptures by Doriforo, Cleomena and Venus of Cnidus: these and many other works are waiting on my tour. I'll tell you why Leonardo called his innovation aerial perspective, why Michelangelo painted so few paintings, why Botticelli was forgotten for 400 years, and why Caravaggio's Bacchus was placed among the still lifes. You will compare the self-portraits of Rembrandt and Rubens, find out how the latter managed to leave behind almost 3,000 works, and why Andrea del Sarto is called an artist without mistakes. A separate topic will be fashion trends in clothes and hairstyles of the 13th — 17th centuries, which will also be described by the masterpieces of the Uffizi.
