* Let's start our tour with the Milan Cathedral in Piazza Duomo
The Duomo Cathedral, an example of Gothic architecture, decorated with many statues, spires and stained glass windows, is a symbol of Milan, which reflects six centuries of the city's history, from the Visconti era to the present. From its terraces you can enjoy an unsurpassed view of the city and the Alpine peaks.
After passing through the beautiful Victor Emmanuel II Gallery, we will arrive at Piazza della Scala, which overlooks the most famous opera house in the world - La Scala Theater. It is a temple of opera art, which has become an arena for the most talented singers, famous conductors and composers.
In the heart of Milan, there is a corner of the Middle Ages that has preserved the charm of the past: PIAZZA DEI MERCANTI, the Square of the Merchants, with the majestic and austere Palazzo della Ragione, where the courts took place in the old days.
Finally, we will come to the Sforza Castle. Originally known as the fortress of the Visconti family, but destroyed by the Milanese after the death of the last of the representatives of the hated regime, it was rebuilt by Francesco Sforza. In the 15th century, a magnificent Renaissance castle with battlements, towers, a moat and courtyards appeared on the site of the medieval fortress. The interior halls currently house several Milan museums, including the Museum of Ancient Art. Here you can also see the famous "Pieta Rondanini" by Michelangelo.
St. Ambrose's Basilica. The basilica was founded by Saint Ambrose in the 4th century on the territory of an ancient cemetery and is dedicated to the martyrs Gervase and Protasia. Inside, you will see a wonderful 9th—century golden altar by Monk Vuolvinio, a precious and rare piece of jewelry, as well as a crypt (tomb) where the relics of St. Ambrose have been kept since 397.
The old NAVIGLI district, with a promenade along the canals.
And we will end our tour with a visit to the modern area of Porta Nuova. Google, Microsoft and Samsung headquarters and skyscrapers are located here.
