Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 5 hours
* A walk through Cividale is a walk through the history of Italy. Founded by Julius Caesar, the city became particularly important in the early Middle Ages, when the Lombard Germanic tribe came from central Europe and mixed with the local population to create a special Roman-Germanic culture, which later became the basis of Italian culture.
In Cividale, we will descend into the mysterious "Celtic dungeon", a room with prehistoric reliefs; we will admire the exquisite ancient stucco in the chapel known as the "Lombard Temple", which, according to art historians, even craftsmen from the Middle East worked on. Together we will dispel the myth of the Middle Ages as a "dark time", Take a walk near the house, which has remained unchanged since the 14th century, and the palace, now an archaeological museum, designed by the famous Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio; walk along the high bridge, which, according to legend, the inhabitants of Cividale could only build with the help of unclean powers.
A walk through Cividale is a little trip through time!
After the walk, visit the wine farm with tasting.
The farm is located in an ancient estate with a small chapel and a park, which has been owned by the owners since the beginning of the 19th century. The hostess herself will tell us not only about their products, but also about the history and legends of these places.
