Description

Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 5 hours
* Madrid is the capital of the Kingdom of Spain, a city with a centuries-old history, although most of the architectural monuments of the last 500 years have been preserved and contains the features of two eras by the name of the dynasties that ruled Spain: the Austrian dynasty – the Habsburgs and the French dynasty - the Bourbons. At the moment, Philippe VI de Bourbon is on the throne, a well-educated and well-trained monarch from childhood (he graduated from the Naval and Air Force schools, the University of Madrid and Georgetown University in Washington, he knows 4 languages). This is the second Philippe of the Bourbons, and since there is not much time on the throne, unlike the previous Philippes, he has not yet received a nickname. The nicknames of all kings are usually associated with the character, manner or history of the reign and sometimes have an ironic and even humorous character. We will stroll through the old crooked streets and modern avenues to get into the essence of this wonderful, cosmopolitan city. Let's start our journey from Paseo del Prado (Prado Alley). 3 of the city's nearly 600 (593) fountains are located here. Two of them, Cibeles and Neptune, were chosen by the fans of the Real Madrid and Atletico football clubs to celebrate their victories. After the Prado Alley, we head along Alcala Street to Puerta del Sol Square, one of the most beautiful squares of the era of Charles III, whose monument was erected in the center of the square by grateful Madridans in 1997. Along Arenal Street (Sandy) we head to the Opera Square with the monument to Queen Isabel II, which has been equipped with Oriente Square and the surroundings of the Royal Palace. The monument to Philip IV resembles the St. Petersburg "Bronze Horseman" and, like there, it is balanced with the help of support on the horse's tail. On the sides of the square there are sculptures of kings who ruled in the territory of modern Spain. We return along Serrano Street to Independence Square with the majestic arch of the Puerta de Alcala and past Retiro Park along Alcala Street we approach the most beautiful bullring in Spain – Las Bentas.
