You will hear a guide's story and legends about one of the most famous and ancient villages of Dagestan, which looks more like an open-air museum than a populated area. In 1986, Dagestan's first monument to the White Cranes was unveiled in the village of Gunib. It was opened by poet Rasul Gamzatov and composer Jan Frenkel, the authors of the immortal song "Cranes", which became a memorial anthem, a mournful song about all those who laid down their heads on the battlefields. It was the first monument to the "White Cranes" in the world. Since then, a crane wedge has been trying to break off over the cliff from a 27-meter stele made of marble. This monument has become one of the main attractions of the Gunibsky district and the whole of Dagestan, located in Victory Park. Now, following the example of the Gunib stele, more than thirty monuments to Gamzatov's "Cranes" have already been erected in different cities of our country and abroad. A 2-storey building in the shape of a cross has been preserved in the village of Gunib. It is now a museum of local lore. We will visit this museum. It was here that the Soviet writer Olga Forsh was born and lived her childhood years. She described her first childhood impressions in the story "Dressed in Stone." Next, we will go for a walk through the Verkhny Gunib Nature Park, a unique place with its own microclimate, centuries—old history and monuments of the Caucasian War. Gunib is the site of the last battle of the Imam of Dagestan and Chechnya, Imam Shamil. Here we will visit Imam Shamil's gazebo and Tsarskaya Polyana. Mountainous Dagestan is rich in unique natural monuments, they can be admired and surprised. The Saltin gorge is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in the Republic of Dagestan. The Saltin gorge is unique for its natural tunnels through which the river flows.
