* The island of Corfu is covered with legends. It is a true paradise surrounded by olive groves, cypress forests and orange orchards. Everything is attractive here: the charming landscapes of the Ionian coast combined with the cultural heritage of Byzantium and the Republic of Venice, interesting architecture and traditional island cuisine.
Meteora is the second most important Orthodox city in Greece (after Mount Athos). It seems incredible that an entire monastic state is located on huge blocks of stone 500-600 m high. We will visit two "floating" monasteries, see miraculous icons of the Cretan and Macedonian schools of icon painting and other religious artifacts.

After breakfast, transfer to Meteora.
Meteors are an amazing creation of nature and human hands. An entire monastic state is comfortably located on giant stone blocks 500-600 meters high. Meteora is the second most important (after Mount Athos) Orthodox center of Greece.
The first monks, seeking solitude and peace, arrived here 1,200 years ago. Living in rock caves, they eventually rose higher and inhabited their peaks. So, starting from the 14th century, the first monasteries appeared here, although the peak of the monastic community was the 16th century.
The word "Meteors" ("hanging between heaven and earth") is not found in ancient sources. The term was first used by the monk Athanasius, who climbed the highest rock in the area around 1334. The founder of the first monastery (of the Transfiguration of the Lord) also gave it a second name – "Megalo Meteoro" ("Great Meteor"). This name, but already in the plural, subsequently began to be applied to all the pillars of the "stone forest".
Of the 24 monasteries that were once built on the rocks, only six have survived: 4 male and 2 female. Meteor Monasteries have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1988. Meteors are also included in the European ecological network NATURA to preserve their biological and landscape diversity.
We will get acquainted with two "floating" monasteries, with their architecture, with examples of the Cretan and Macedonian schools of icon painting. We will see collections of unique manuscripts on parchment, rich church utensils and numerous miraculous icons.
After lunch, transfer to Igoumenitsa port and from there by ferry to Corfu Island.

The island of Corfu is an emerald paradise surrounded by olive groves, cypress forests and orange orchards. It was in this corner of paradise, according to mythology, that the wedding of Argonaut Jason with the sorceress Medea took place. On the shores of this wonderful island, Princess Nausica rescued a shipwrecked Odysseus. And the Greek name of the island, Kerkyra, comes from the name of a nymph, Poseidon's lover.
After visiting the palace, we will move to the town of Kanoni. From here you can enjoy a stunning view of Pondikonisi ("Mouse Island"), which is considered the hallmark of the island of Corfu. The stunning view of the tiny island, the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the Church of the Mother of God of Blachernae do not leave anyone indifferent.
Then we will take a sightseeing tour of the city of Corfu. The city of Corfu (Kerkyra) is the capital of the island of Corfu, one of the most elegant cities in Greece, formerly a city of the Venetian aristocracy. The symbol of the aristocratic city is Liston Street, a small replica of the Parisian Rue de Rivoli. In previous centuries, only particularly noble members of the nobility were allowed to walk along this street, whose names were on a special list, in Greek Liston. The historical center is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Corfu Town is the largest outdoor museum in Greece, a city of two fortresses: on the one hand, it is surrounded by an Old Byzantine Fortress (8th century), on the other hand, a New fortress built to protect the city from the Turkish invasion between 1576 and 1588.
During the tour, we will stroll through the medieval winding streets of the city, visit the church of St. Spyridon, the patron saint of the island; see the old Byzantine fortress and the Palace of Michael and George; Spinada Square, famous throughout Europe, the Metland peristyle, Liston Street and much more.
After lunch, transfer to the mainland (to the Igoumenitsa port) and further to the recreation areas.

Красивое описание экскурсионных маршрутов, как правило, выполнено по заказу профессиональными филологами, и «истинное мастерство» гида становится ясным сразу после первых произнесённых им предложений, когда деньги за поездку уже заплачены и изменить что-либо невозможно. А ведь при проведении многодневных туров есть возможность познакомить гостей с массой интересных и полезных сведений ещё и во время длительных переездов.
Впрочем, тут вопрос не только в багаже знаний выбранного вами экскурсовода. В квалифицированном гиде должны привлекать не только профессиональные знания, тут важно всё: от умения грамотно подать информацию до дикции и тембра голоса.
Косноязычие – бич эпохи. Я гарантирую вам образную, красивую русскую речь, без слов-паразитов, повторов – на уровне носителя языка, и интересный рассказ, понятный даже детям.
