From 120€ per group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 3 hours
* Many clever books have been written about the tragedy that occurred as a result of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the 1st century AD, but none of them will replace your personal perception of what the Pompeii Museum shows. The modern excavation area is 44 hectares of area and, of course, to go around it all, the task for your feet is very difficult, especially if you do not know what you must see, and what has been duplicated many times and is in much better condition, but on the next street.
There are many museums in the world where the ruins of past centuries are represented in their diversity. But Pompeii is not a ruin, it is a city that has preserved its streets, theaters, baths, and forum. After taking you through the most interesting corners of this museum, I will introduce you to its main attractions in a fairly short time.
• We will start with the Gladiator Barracks, where, before the earthquake of 62 AD, there was a portico where residents of this city met during the rest period during performances in the Bolshoi and Maly Theaters, which, by the way, we will also visit. The amazing acoustics of these structures are in demand by the artists of the San Carlo Theater, and the voice of the great singers of Italy still sounds in these walls today.
• Let's take a look at the house of a wealthy citizen, where wall frescoes, household items, the remains of its owners and so on have been wonderfully preserved.
• Imagine ourselves as visitors to the Roman baths, especially since this complex is well preserved. And then we will enter the hospitable coolness of a brothel, where the paintings left on the walls will tell us all the secrets of sin, we will find out what kind of underwear (in frescoes) Roman beauties wore.
• We will visit the Forum and markets of ancient Pompeii, and, leaving the excavation area, we will enter the walls of the temple of the god Apollo, which scientists date back to the 6th century BC.
• If desired, you can extend the route and walk to the Villa of the Mysteries, the country residence of Emperor Augustus.
• Opening hours of the archaeological zone of Pompeii:
- November-March 09:00 - 18:00 (last entrance at 15:30).
- April - October 09:00 - 19:00 (last entrance 17:30).
