You will see their main attractions, many of which have preserved their pre-war buildings and the spirit of East Prussia. In Mayevka, we will explore the majestic Bishop's fortress of Georgenburg from the outside, as well as the local stud farm, see options. You will hear many interesting facts about the breeding of a special breed of East Prussian horses - Trakens. In Chernyakhovsk (Insterburg) you will have an informative walk through the picturesque streets of the old town with its ancient villas and apartment buildings, during which you will see the house of Napoleon, monuments to the Russian commander Barclay de Tolly and Soviet General Ivan Chernyakhovsky, the former reformed church – now the Orthodox church of Archangel Michael, and also visit the picturesque ruins of the fortress Insterburg. On our way to the village of Zheleznodorozhny (Gerdauen), we will stop near one of the locks of the unfinished Masurian Canal by the Germans, a grandiose structure that, taking precautions, can be climbed to inspect the lock, canal and surroundings.
