You will inspect Michelangelo's sculptures and see how they "cut off excess", creating masterpieces of art from a piece of stone. You will also appreciate the beauty of Florentine mosaics and discover the secrets of the famous dynasty. What awaits you: • Academy Gallery. People come here mainly to look at Michelangelo's world—famous masterpiece, the statue of David. But I want to show you this master from the other side, introducing you to his sculptures "Slaves", created in the technique of non-finito (ital. non-finito — unfinished). Why didn't the master finish the work? Didn't have time? Have you changed your mind? We'll discuss it at the meeting. We will also explore the plaster library of Bartolini, the most talented sculptor of the 19th century. After all, we, the audience, are interested in seeing not only the finished product, but also how a statue is born from a block of marble. I'll tell you how sculptures and replicas are made from A to Z. • The Medici Chapel. The museum does not leave even the most sophisticated traveler indifferent because of its decor: Florentine mosaics. Together we will look at the amazing painting in stone. And in the crypt of the Chapel, we will have to remove the century-old charges against some representatives of the Medici family: Ferdinand I of murdering his brother and Anna Maria of having a "bad disease from love." I will also tell you about the serious scientific investigation of the Medici Project in 2004, when all the graves of the members of the legendary dynasty were opened.
