From 7 500₽ per private group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 3 hours
* Imperial shopping is for everyone, from Feather Beds to the resplendent Au pont rouge spire on Moika or the Mertens house, whose symbol is a granite polar bear that hides in a secluded courtyard of a large store.
Participants will plunge into bourgeois St. Petersburg at the beginning of the last century, when, as in our days, trade in the Nevsky Prospekt area flourished. We will visit the largest shopping malls of the Silver Age, consider the unique design of the majestic DLT, find out why the Singer house did not become a skyscraper and how they wanted to demolish it, hear the legend of the golden chandelier in the Eliseevsky store and the ghost of the Duma Tower, where the most famous citizens of old Petersburg met.
During the tour, you will learn about the philosophy of trading houses, what changes they went through during the Soviet era, and how shopping, which our ancestors lost, is gaining strength again in the walls of ancient shops these days.
The tour route:
• The Yeliseyev Merchants Store
• Large Gostiny Dvor
• Singer Company House
• Mertens House
• DLT
• Shop at the Red Bridge
