The mansion of merchant Ivan Andreevich Te-Klodt
Detailed description
The famous merchant from Samara, Ivan Klodt, built a house for his family in the style of the "German Renaissance". The picturesque mansion overshadowed all the houses of old Samara. Together with his brother Carl, Ivan created an electric company that served the residents of the city with Edison lamps, dynamos, wires and other electrical appliances. The brothers also provided Samara with water pipes and plumbing supplies. At the end of 1896, Klodt bought a vacant plot in the 2nd part of the city, and in February 1897, he petitioned the city council to build his stone house. The city's architect, A.A. Shcherbachev, signed the petition. Today, the project of this house has been preserved, which was also created by A.A. Shcherbachev. On the occasion of Ivan Klodt's fiftieth birthday in 1898, a unique stone house with one floor, basement and mezzanines was built.
